Specialized Trauma Therapy
Nicole obtained a Masters in Counseling from IUP in 1998, has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of PA, a National Certified Counselor since 2003, and is trained to provide counseling and psychotherapy for adults as well as adolescents. As a Certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT), specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she focuses on the idea that thoughts influence feelings and behaviors. Thus, if you change the thought, then the feelings and behaviors will change in accordance. This is an evidence-based approach with research supporting its efficacy. CBT’s focus is to have the person gain control of their thoughts in order to empower the individual to make the desired change.
In addition to CBT, Nicole was also trained by the National Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists to conduct Rational Hypnotherapy and she works with those in need of trauma specific work. She was also trained to preform EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), an evidenced-based treatment for trauma that is highly effective and gives results in a relatively short amount of time, by the EMDR Institute. Nicole has attended many Master-Level trainings and is currently pursuing the requirements for certification in EMDR. As well as EMDR, Nicole was trained in the use of SITCAP (structured sensory interventions) by the TLC Institute.
Nicole accepts various insurances, including Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Capital Blue Cross, Tricare and Quest Behavioral Health. She is also an EAP provider for Wellspan employees, accepts Victims Compensation of PA and DE, and offers a Private Pay Fee schedule. Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are also accepted.
